Women shopping online for plus size bras have some decisions to make. Sure, there's some great full figure bras out there, especially online where it seems all the best plus size clothes are found. But there's a couple of things to think about before you start your search for the perfect bra.

Exactly what is it you want to achieve with your plus size bra? Because that determines what type of bra you need to get. A woman needs a whole range of bras, from full support bras to sports bras to minimizer bras. And if you're a full busted woman then the choice you make is even more important.

Often reinforced cups can provide sufficient support while making us look good. Whichever bra you choose, make sure it supports you well.

And we all need a good sports bra if we do our exercise, as we should. Plus size sports bras are designed to stop us bouncing when we don't want to bounce. To support us and keep us firm and in place. There's a number of ways the sports bra can do that, from compression bras to make sure our breasts are held firmly against our ribs, to encapsulation bras that support and separate our breasts individually. Underwire bras can achieve this, don't dismiss them just because of the wire.

So if you're looking around for some plus size bras then have a good think first about what it is that you want to achieve with your bra. Make sure you have a good range of bras in your wardrobe for every occasion. Good solid reliable support bras for everyday and all day use, some lacy full figure bras in gorgeous sexy colors for that special occasion, a couple of plus size sports bras for exercise time and maybe a couple of strapless plus size bras for that black strapless dress you're going to buy.

There's a lot of places online to buy plus size bras. It's not easy finding a supplier that you can trust and which offers a wide range of great bras at good prices with sufficient stock to fulfill orders.

Personally we like Big Girls Bras. They are a major player online in the market for full figure bras, from plus size support bras to plus size sports bras to plus size corset bras, bridal, maternity and lots more. Every plus size bra you could ever need - or want - you'll find there. After all, for a larger mum a plus size nursing bra is an absolute must.

Even bras that some of us need for medical reasons, such as mastectomy.

And they don't just stop at bras, they feature a range of other intimate products such as lingerie, shapers and even swimwear.

Big Girls Bras have a very strong commitment to customer service. They are active communicating with their customers and are happy to incorporate good customer ideas into their products.

From small beginnings in 1998 they have gone from strength to strength in the plus size bras market online. Whilst it is impossible to tell we suspect they are one of the largest players in this market. They certainly have pretty competitive prices.

On the downside, we like to see plus size clothing modelled by plus size women, and this is not the case on their website. However it is probably a little churlish to feature other stores just for this reason when we consider Big Girls Bras to be the best. We'd just like to see some more plus size women on their website.

An excellent source plus size bras. They have a wide range of styles and colors, that size up to 56K, though only for a few. We love their plus size sports bras, particularly the Goddess Sports Bra, (see picture).

And if you can't find what you want there then have a look at Junonia They have a wide range of plus size bras as well, not quite such a range of colors or sizes as you'll find at Big Girls Bras, which is why they are preferred. But certainly still worth a look.

Finally we'd like to suggest Maidenform. (Ignore their ultra skinny models and focus on their full figure bras. Beautiful bras.) They are not a store specialising in plus size bras, however they have lovely bras, and some up to reasonably larger sizes. It's not likely the larger woman will find what she needs there, and she should look at our other suggestions. But there will be some who are very happy with what they find at Maidenform. And their prices are very reasonable for the quality of their bras.
